Part 1:

-Teachers begin with a quick refresher of goals, the definition of identity, and instructions for what we will aim to accomplish by the end of the class period. 

 

Step 6: Access a new technique of spray paint application.

- Teacher gives Instructions:

  1. Get out your stencils, ideation sheet, and any other supplies you may need for today

  2. A brief spray painting demonstration will be shown to all students, and then those who are ready to begin their spray painting will proceed.

  3. Students who still need to create stencils will be instructed to follow one teacher to the lab to complete their stencils.

 

Part 2:

The teacher will initiate the start of the project: 

  • spray painting using created stencils

Step 7: Applying personal symbol to group bench

 

Step 8: (if needed): Deepening connection through design elements.  

 

  • Cleanup

The teacher is mindful of the time and reminds students.

 

Part 3: 

The teacher will end this lesson by providing the final reflection sheet (in the appendix.) 

Teachers will go around while students are working and give each person an individual assessment for their project.

 

Step 9: Compare/Contrast personal and peer symbols

 

Step 10: Reflection Discussion (“sit on the benches”)

 

The Teacher will initiate a reflection on the project as a whole.

  • Full Peer Facilitated discussion revolving around identity, the process, the product, and the learning outcomes

  • They will use the rubric, grading sheet, and reflective questions to reflect on their learning. They will use the answers to these questions to inspire a verbal discussion
